HONING ABILITY INTO SUCCESS THROUGH HARD WORK, MENTORSHIP, AND ACCESS TO TOOLS & RESOURCES
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

YES Program Qualifications
Classroom teachers are critical in providing qualitative and quantitative data about a student's performance within the classroom. Additionally, family insight into student strengths and interests is an important part of determining the services and programming for your child.
As the curriculum experts, teachers must provide a body of evidence that indicates that the given student is consistently working above their same-age peers. To that end, advanced classroom performance must be measured through examples of above grade-level work. An example of this might be documentation of a third-grade student who has already demonstrated mastery of fourth and fifth-grade math standards and has successfully completed all the geometry modules from an online math program. Earning a "4" in a class, or on multiple assignments, does not necessarily indicate exceptional performance. Grades lack standardization and are influenced significantly by students' motivation, classroom behavior, and study habits.
Included within this body evidence must be a minimum of 3 "nationally normed" assessments on which the student scored in the advanced, or exceptional category. Evidence of exceptionality is above the 95th percentile, while high abilities are below this level.
Classroom Teacher and family member input will help us determine whether your child should be served in the YES (Young Exceptional Scholars) / Talent pool program. Should your child qualify for an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) through the YES program, input from teachers/family members will be critical in developing and updating the ALP annually.
